Hello! Welcome!
I'm Heather, owner and sole employee here at Wurtzelvania Quilt Studio.
I made my first quilt when I was pregnant with my baby girl a little over 21 years ago (that baby girl just started her senior year of college!). I took a sampler class at my local quilt studio and loved it! It was the first time I really connected with own creativity and I knew I was on to something. However, as a busy mom of 2 young people, I did not have the time - or energy - to sew very much. Over the years I would make quilts for school auction projects or the occasional gift but it wasn't a consistent practice.

Today I'm an empty nester and have spent the few years doing my darndest to fill my empty nest with all things quilty! I started by making t-shirt quilts for each of my kiddos with keepsake shirts and fabrics from their baby days through college. I transformed our guest room into my sewing studio. I've learned new skills and practiced old ones. And in December 2024, I purchased a longarm quilting machine and haven't looked back! I miss my kiddos and also I'm loving this opportunity to expand my creativity.

When not quilting, I may be found hanging with my husband, Ethan (aka: Official Quilt Holder), hiking in the woods, checking out some live music, reading a book or visiting my kiddos in the PNW.
